Journal Entry: Learning Nursing Assistant Course in a Very Limited Time
Here’s my thoughts. . .
Learning new things can be scary and intimidating. When the clinical / lab was coming up, I was already anxious and nervous. I have mixed emotions while taking the nursing assistant course.
Fortunately, our instructors were very friendly and helpful. One of our instructors was so jolly and upbeat. Her spirit took my fears away, which really helped me a lot.
The part that was very challenging for me was my nervousness when I started gathering my supplies. It seemed like my mind had a hard time of figuring out what supplies would be needed for the particular skill. My mind started to black out.
And I felt nervous too when I approached the patient to introduce myself. But when I started to perform the skill, I had no fears.
All the nursing assistant skills that I learned from my clinical were worth learning despite the fears I had.
One week to learn all the skills was too short for me. There wasn’t enough time to master all the skills. I wanted to master each skill before it was over.
I love the clinical / lab part of the course because it allowed me to learn and perform the actual process in the real world.
