Journal Instruction and Topic
The topic that we are going to write in our journal is about: “Surgical Patients”.
Here is the instruction that we received from our nursing assistant online class teacher. . .
Think about, then write about, the following or choose your own comments related to the topic of surgery.
Have you ever had surgery yourself, or have you known someone who had surgery?
Did you or the person you know experience any side effects or problems after surgery, such as constipation, pain, pneumonia, or infection?
If so, how was it addressed? If not, how were these problems avoided?
Journal Entry: My Husband’s Eye Surgery
Read my journal entry below. . .
Several years ago my husband had eye problems. He went to an ophthalmologist. The doctor told him that he had cataract and needed to have a surgery.
At that time my husband was in his late 30s. The doctor said that he was too young to have a cataract. He was the doctor’s youngest patient ever who had a cataract.
A week after the surgery he went to see his doctor. When the doctor checked his operated eye, he was surprised that after a week the pressure of his eye was still low.
The doctor told him to come after a week to check the eye pressure again. If the pressure would still be low, then he will perform another surgery.
Of course, my husband didn’t want to go through another surgery. So we brought the matter to the Lord and we prayed.
We had a health book at home. I read about eye health. I happened to read the glaucoma section. It says that vitamin C will help lower the ocular pressure.
Eureka!
My husband had been taking vitamin C because we had previously read that vitamin C is good for surgery recovery.
So my husband stopped taking the vitamin C.
When he visited his doctor again, the doctor said that his eye pressure had increased. So my husband was so thrilled that he didn’t need the second surgery. Praise the Lord!
Maybe vitamin C is good for other kinds of surgery but not for cataract surgery.
